How Phlebotomy Training Assists In Laboratory Work

cr_0586fb9bd514dead8ae8994d5838017b

Phlebotomists are the people who normally work in the laboratories. These people were introduced to reduce the work load of doctors and nurses. Phlebotomists get special training and then they start working in a hospital or a laboratory. Phlebotomist is the person who draws blood, perform some manual tests on the blood and then use the automatic analyzer for the further tests. Phlebotomist also prepares the blood products to be used by doctors. All these tasks were performed by a team of doctors and nurses before the phlebotomists were introduced.

There are certain qualities a phlebotomist should have in him to work efficiently as well as effectively. They should be able to show calmness and patience in intense situations. They must be very careful during their duty hours and should be a responsible person. During their job they may have to stand continuously for several hours so they must be prepared for that. Sometimes they get to take blood sample of a very aggressive person, so they should be able to handle them.

If you have these qualities then there is nothing that can stop from becoming a phlebotomist. You may start your career with an associate degree or a certificate. There are many colleges and training institutes which can provide you the phlebotomy training. The duration of these phlebotomy training programs are of 4 months to 1 year. This training includes blood drawing techniques, blood testing techniques, communication skills, safety measures and training of machine operation.

Getting admission in these phlebotomy and cna training schools is not very difficult and you can easily get the admission on the basis of your high school diploma. There are many schools who do not require even the high school diploma but they will make you do another preprogram training course which will bring your knowledge level up to the required level. It is advised that before taking admission in an institute, you should check that it is accredited phlebotomist associations. The main phlebotomist associations are ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists), NCA (National Credentialing Agency), AAMP (American Association of Medical Personnel) and AMT (American Medical Technologists).

You can also choose to get your training online through internet. There are many websites which are offering phlebotomy training courses. It is again very important that you should check the accreditation of the website with any governing associations. After completing your training you will be required to give a test for the certification. The above mentioned governing bodies arrange exams for this certification. It is advised that you prepare well before appearing in an exam so that you do not waste your money and time by appearing again and again in the exam. For the purpose of preparation you may find several sample tests on the internet which may help a lot in the preparation of the exam.

Phlebotomists can earn from 15,000 up to 50,000 dollars depending on the training place, work experience, certification and etc, therefore it is also advised that you get your training from a well recognized institute. A phlebotomist can get the job ion the hospitals as well as private laboratories.
